MicroProse has announced that it is taking over the publishing rights to Scourge of the Reptiles, a party-based tactical RPG currently in development for PC via Steam. The reveal was accompanied by a new trailer showcasing the game’s combat systems, dinosaur companions, and its prehistoric fantasy setting. Developed by solo artist Kyoti, Scourge of the Reptiles is the first game by the developer and now has a confirmed publisher.
MicroProse has been publishing war simulators since 1982 and is known for creating some of the best simulation software, such as the Falcon F15 Strike Eagle, Silent Service, Gunship, Grand Prix, B-17 The Mighty Eighth, and many others. Its product range spans a large number of hardware products. The modern MicroProse is now not only focusing on publishing war games but also expanding into other genres and responsibilities in the video game industry.
Scourge of the Reptiles Announces MicroProse as its New Publisher
Set in a low-fantasy world shaped by a meteor impact, Scourge of the Reptiles centers on a conflict where humans, elves, and dinosaurs gain access to magical abilities. As dinosaurs begin to turn against their handlers, players assemble a party and navigate a growing war that spreads across multiple regions. The narrative focuses on uncovering the source behind the creatures’ corruption while expanding from a smaller scale beginning into a wider, escalating conflict.
Its gameplay is built around turn-based tactical combat, with an emphasis on positioning, terrain, and encounter planning. Players control a mix of warriors, magic users, and dinosaur allies, with battles designed to support multiple approaches, including direct combat, stealth, and environmental interaction. Dinosaurs play a central role not just as enemies, but as mounts and controllable units, each offering distinct abilities that influence combat strategies.
The RPG system includes more than 100 skills and abilities, alongside party-building mechanics that allow players to recruit companions and adapt their approach as new enemy types and battlefield conditions are introduced. Encounters span human factions, undead enemies, and increasingly aggressive dinosaur threats, with progression structured across a multi-act campaign designed to expand in scale over time.
Scourge of the Reptiles is in development for PC and will be released via Steam. A confirmed release date will be revealed later. For now, players can head over to its official Steam page and add it to their wishlist.
