Another Eden Begins, a time-traveling, turn-based JRPG from Wright Flyer Studios, is set to launch globally in Summer 2026 on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The project is being developed by Studio Prisma, a newly formed internal team led by veteran writer Masato Kato, known for his work on Chrono Trigger and Xenogears.
The announcement was made during the Nintendo Partner Showcase in February 2026, where the developer showcased some of the gameplay elements from the new RPG. Wright Flyer Studios specializes in releasing RPGs with unique stories. Both Chrono Trigger and Xenogears are critically acclaimed RPGs, and with their writer leading Studio Prisma, the developer is aiming to continue working on more titles with powerful narratives and unique gameplay.
Another Eden Begins is the Latest JRPG from the Chrono Trigger Writer
Another Eden Begins expands the Another Eden universe with a standalone story that blends past, present, and future into a branching, multiverse-driven narrative. Players will follow a new cast of characters through story-heavy quests, with the full main scenario featuring complete English voice acting alongside multiple supported languages.
Gameplay remains rooted in classic turn-based combat, paired with an updated battle system and enhanced visuals designed to take advantage of both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 hardware. Progression is structured around deep companion relationships and choice-driven storytelling, with New Game+ content introducing an additional character that opens new narrative paths. These decisions ultimately lead to ten different endings, encouraging repeat playthroughs.
Music is being composed by Yasunori Mitsuda (Xenogears, Chrono Cross), with orchestration by Procyon Studio that leans into folk instrumentation. According to Wright Flyer Studios, the score is intended to complement the game’s time-spanning themes and emotional pacing.
Masato Kato’s involvement immediately positions Another Eden Begins within a specific lineage of story-forward JRPGs that prioritize emotional resonance and structural experimentation over genre trends. At a time when many modern RPGs lean heavily on action systems or live-service frameworks, Another Eden’s emphasis on branching narratives, authored endings, and traditional turn-based combat feels deliberately counter-current. The formation of Studio Prisma suggests Wright Flyer Studios is treating this project not as a side entry, but as a creative reset with a strong authorial voice at its centre.
Another Eden Begins is scheduled to launch in Summer 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, with support for English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
