Developer Neckbolt and publisher Burning Planet have announced the PC and Nintendo Switch release of their title Let’s Freeze Some Penguins. Let’s Freeze Some Penguins is a cozy block-pushing game set in Northern Bear, a wintry wonderland Northern Bear. The game revolves around the story of Walnut the Walrus. Walnut the Walrus has magical mittens, and he can freeze penguins into slippery ice blocks. To celebrate the launch, the developers have released a new trailer for their title, which we have linked below for you:

In the game, you play as Walnut the Walrus and Noklas the Narwhal, who are trying to freeze all of the minions of the Emperor Penguin, who is trying to move them to the north of the Arctic Circle. The game follows a simple gameplay loop where Walnut the Walrus freezes the penguins in their tracks and then pushes them around to create new paths, stairs, and bridges. To progress in the game, you will solve different puzzles using the mechanic and make migration a hell for the penguins.

Key features of the game include:

  • Over 50 puzzle levels
  • 3 worlds and a bonus world
  • Spike-balls, treadmills, elevators, and many more puzzle elements
  • Collect 3 Fish Medallions per level to unlock new areas
  • Collect message bottles with letters from Walnut’s missing parents
  • Defeat the dreaded Emperor Penguin and stop his invasion!
  • Music by Karl Rosqvist

Developer Niklas Hallin comments:

I’m sorry I depicted penguins as bad guys here. In real life penguins are very likeable and worthy of praise! But a difficult thing about puzzle games is that you can so easily make a wrong move and lock yourself into a corner. Here, with all these penguins, you can simply create new blocks and keep going.

The PC Steam version of Let’s Freeze Some Penguins is slated for release on PC via Steam in September 2025, while the Nintendo Switch version of Switch will be released later this year. If you prefer playing the Steam version, you can add the game to your Steam wishlist right now. You can also download and try its free demo right now, which is currently available on Steam. The developer has also mentioned in the press release that no generative AI has been used in the production of the title in any way.
