Ubisoft has officially announced its next title in its long-running franchise Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Assassin’s Creed Mirage will release worldwide in 2023 and Ubisoft has also unveiled the roadmap for the brand’s future with new two next HD flagship titles Assassin’s Creed Codename RED and Assassin’s Creed Codename HEXE. All of the new titles are part of the Assassin’s Creed Codename INFINITY hub, alongside a new AAA mobile game Assassin’s Creed JADE, and additional information on its partnership with Netflix.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage will release on all previous-gen and new-gen consoles including PC and all cloud-based streaming services. It will see itself launching on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Amazon Luna, and Windows PC through Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store. Assassin’s Creed Mirage will also feature fully-fledged Arabic voice acting and full localization to the UI. Ubisoft+ players will also get access to Assassin’s Creed Mirage when it launches next year as part of their subscription.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is being developed by Ubisoft Bordeaux, the studio behind Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s expansion: Wrath of the Druids. The latest Assassin’s Creed title will see players immersing themselves in the magnificent 9th century Baghdad at the peak of its Golden Age. It will offer a narrative-driven action-adventure experience with an intriguing storyline of coming of age, charismatic protagonists, a majestic open-world city, and modernized legacy gameplay focusing on parkour, stealth, and assassinations.
The new game will also feature a brand-new hero Basim Ibn Is’haq who is a singular street thief with a mysterious past. He joins the Hidden Ones in Alamut in his quest for answers where his mentor Roshan will be voiced by the Emmy-winning actress Shohreh Aghdashloo. As detailed by Ubisoft in the official press release, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a homage to the series and a particularly special tribute to the very first Assassin’s Creed title. The reveal trailer for Assassin’s Creed Mirage features original music composed by Brendan Angelides, who is also the music composer of the title.
Stéphane Boudon, Senior Content Director for Assassin’s Creed Mirage said:
For the 15th anniversary of the franchise, we wanted to offer something special to the players and our community. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is a tribute to the franchise, and notably to the original game. We are bringing a modern take on the iconic Assassin’s Creed gameplay experience, as well as a deep dive into the rituals and tenets of the Hidden Ones, something we think both our long-time and new fans will be eager to play.
Ubisoft also revealed the two special editions for Assassin’s Creed Mirage including:
- The Deluxe Edition will include the base game, a digital artbook and digital soundtrack, and a Deluxe digital pack, which contains a Prince of Persia–inspired outfit, eagle and mount skins, weapons, and more!
- The Collector’s Case will include the Deluxe Edition with a high-quality figurine of Basim (32cm), an exclusive Steelbook with design to be elected by fans, a mini-artbook, Basim’s brooch replica, a map of Baghdad as well as a Selected Soundtrack of the game. The Collector’s Case is available at Retail and on the Ubisoft Store.
Fans who pre-order the game on any platform will also receive a bonus quest called The Forty Thieves where players will be able to uncover the mysteries of Ali Baba’s legendary cave. Ubisoft also released additional details that since the very first Assassin’s Creed title, the franchise has sold over 200 million games all over the world. The most recent release in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is still getting new updates and is currently in its second year of launch.
However, with development pushing on the next Assassin’s Creed title, Ubisoft is retiring new updates and content releases for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla soon after the release of its Last Chapter, a free quest arc in which Eivor will unite with some key characters including some influential historical figures. Ubisoft has also launched some exclusive new rewards for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla which are currently available in the game. Additional details about the Last Chapter will be released in the upcoming days.
