Nintendo has made a surprise reveal today that Paper Mario is making his debut on Nintendo Switch with a brand new title Paper Mario: The Origami King. Revealed via a brand new trailer, we see Mario return along with Princess Peach and Luigi as well as a plethora of characters from the Mario franchise all reimagined in the world of Paper Mario.
In Paper Mario: The Origami King, Mario must go against King Olly who is the ruler of the Origami Kingdom but he has plotted against Mario and is now endangering everyone close to Mario. King Olly is planning to fold the entire world and has bound Princess Peach’s castle has been bound in giant, colored streamers, and transported it to a faraway mountain. Bowser’s minions are now aiding King Olly as Folded Soldiers as well.
Mario, however, is fully prepared with his range of new tools to make sure that King Olly does not succeed in his devious plans. His new ability 1000-Fold Arms allow Mario to interact with the landscape by stretching out and pulling, peeling and revealing new locations. It comes really handy as it allows you to solve different puzzles and uncover hidden secrets in the game. Check out the reveal trailer of Paper Mario: The Origami King below.
Mario has a bunch of new allies as well including Bowser himself as well as King Olly’s sister Olivia. Paper Mario: The Origami King also brings with it a brand new ring-based battle system that allows you to flex your puzzle-solving skills to line up scattered enemies and maximize damage. With dynamic, turn-based battles, you will need a sharp mind to ensure that you make short work of the crafty enemies.
Paper Mario: The Origami King is slated for release exclusively on Nintendo Switch on July 17, 2020, and will come in both digital and physical versions. Pre-orders are live now on Nintendo Switch eShop.
