Xbox has revealed the January 2023 games it will be giving to all Xbox Gold subscribers as part of its Games with Gold, and they are a huge disappointment. The two games that players will be getting this month include Iris Fall and Autonauts. Similar to PlayStation, Xbox also reduced the number of games it gives away every month as part of its premium online subscription but now players are only getting two games instead of four games like before, and judging from this month, not very good ones as well when compared with its competition.
- Iris Fall – Available from January 1 – January 31, 2023
- Autonauts – Available from January 16 to February 15. 2023
Iris Fall is a puzzle adventure game in which you enter the dreamlike and stunning world of light and dark. You step into the shoes of a young girl Iris who is following a mysterious black cat into a labyrinth of light and dark. As Iris goes deeper into the world, she realizes that she is connected to the cat and the world in more ways than she imagined. The gameplay features clever mechanics and challenging puzzles combined with a unique monochrome look and a spectacular soundtrack. The game was originally released back in 2018 and we really liked the game in our review.
The second game for this month is Autonauts in which the world is yours to build. In Autonauts, you find uninhabited planets and transform them into fully living ones. You start with the absolute basics of harvesting sticks and stones where you begin your foundation. You keep progressing and soon you have worker bots and AI helping you out with various tasks. As you continue to create folk who need your help, you then move to help these people survive on the planets. You teach them basic skills such as fishing, cooking, tailoring, and more. Your ultimate goal is the automation of the entire planet.
When I say that the games are disappointing, it does not mean that the games are bad. They are just not up to the quality offered by PS Plus when you compare the two services directly. PS Plus players have multiple AAA titles for this month and compared with that, Microsoft has really gone down with their quality of monthly games.
