Wayward Strand is a heartfelt interactive story, told in a unique and curious way. Play as Casey Beaumaris – intrepid teenage journalist – as she visits an airborne hospital for the first time. Uncover the airship’s mysteries, and explore the lives of its inhabitants.

Inspired by interactive theatre, the game centers on 14-year-old Casey, an intrepid teenage journalist, as she embarks on the flying ship-turned-hospital above a small Australian town in the summer of 1978. On her first-ever trip, she has limited time to help the staff, get to know the patients, and investigate to find out the mysteries of the ship.

Once onboard the ship, you will meet a sizeable cast of characters who go about their lives guided by their own desires, schedules, and will. You can choose who Casey will interact with, engage directly or eavesdrop on unsuspecting workers.

There are over 20,000 lines of recorded voiceover dialogue for a plethora of interesting conversations that you can have with characters. You can follow your curiosity at any moment, and while a single playthrough is a complete experience on its own, the developers have noted that it can take at least a dozen playthroughs for players to begin seeing the full picture.

Wayward Strand brings many topics, which according to the developers include empathy, intergenerational relationships, care and neglect, as well as exploring the day-to-day lives of older people and care workers.
