Ubisoft has announced to give out free Assassin’s Creed Unity for everyone in honor of the Notre Dame. If you haven’t head, the historic Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris was partially destroyed in a fire that broke out and destroyed the historic Cathedral.
In addition, Ubisoft is also donation €500,000 to Paris organizers in effort to rebuild the Cathedral. The restoration of the cathedral can take more than $8 billion, and years to restore it completely.
The gaming company wrote in a blog post,
We want to give everyone the chance to experience the majesty and beauty of Notre-Dame the best way we know how … When we created Assassin’s Creed Unity, we developed an even closer connection with this incredible city and its landmarks – one of the most notable elements of the game was the extraordinary recreation of Notre-Dame.
Video games can enable us to explore places in ways we never could have otherwise imagined. We hope, with this small gesture, we can provide everyone an opportunity to appreciate our virtual homage to this monumental piece of architecture.
Assassin’s Creed Unity is now live on Uplay and will be available through Thursday, April 25. If you claim the copy of Unity before April 25, you will get to keep the game forever.
Assassin’s Creed Unity is set in Paris during the French Revolution and features the Notre Dame prominently in the game. Though the reviews of the game were not so positive, mainly because of technical issues marring the game. Regardless, it is quite noble of Ubisoft with their sentiments to offer the game for free.

- Sign in to your Ubisoft account or create one if you do not already have one
- Click Add to Cart, and then check out
- Follow on screen instructions to complete the order
- Download or launch Uplay to install the game
