SOEDESCO has announced that their truck simulator Truck Driver going free-to-play with a new revenue model called Truck Driver – Pay Per Gallon. The title will be free to play for all players but the game will be dependent on microtransactions as players will be able to purchase fuel for their trucks.

This fuel will help them complete longer distances to complete jobs. This fictional fuel will cost players real money and the title will feature in-game credits called ‘Truck Dollars’ or Trollars. Marketing Manager at SOEDESCO stated:

We’re absolutely hyped to be heading in a new direction for Truck Driver. This monetization strategy offers tons of possibilities, such as localized fuel prices and special holiday discounts. As we move forward, adding microtransactions is the best option for Truck Driver, and today is the perfect day to let the world know about this new road we’re taking.

According to the new revenue model, Truck Driver will go free-to-play with microtransactions for all players. According to SOEDESCO, the new features of Truck Driver are:

  • Drive through a beautiful open world, but don’t run out of reserves!
  • Spend your real-world money on completely fictional fuel
  • Rely on your wallet to take you where you need to go in Truck Driver

In Truck Driver, Players can experience the life of a truck driver as they drive around completing jobs and interacting with the community. Players will get the opportunity to meet with different people and build relationships with them. Completing jobs will earn them respect and money both which will come in handy for securing better jobs.

The game offers unique simulation truck driving mechanics and players can customize their truck with a lot of parts which will make it better. Truck tuning is also including in the game. Players will have a seamless world to explore and the world will progress with the players. The map will feature cities and open landscapes which will offer a very unique experience.

Truck Driver is planned for a release in 2019 on Xbox One and PS4.
