Developer Red Barrels is gearing up to celebrate the first anniversary of The Outlast Trials with an exciting new update set to release on March 25. The new update was detailed recently where the developer showcased the upcoming content during their One Year Anniversary Dev Stream, promising you a range of fresh challenges, special events, and a glimpse into the game’s future.
The 2.1 update will introduce the Under Surveillance: Part 1 event, where Murkoff Corporation is intensifying its grip on the Sinyala Facility. In response to rumors that Amelia is attempting to communicate with the Reagents, surveillance cameras have been installed across all Trials to monitor their movements closely.

Alongside this event, you can unlock and wear exclusive cosmetics through a limited-time event catalog, available only during the Under Surveillance event. Additionally, the update will deliver two new MK-Challenges—“Kidnap the Mistress” and “Stash the Contraband”—offering fresh objectives for you to tackle.
To commemorate the game’s first anniversary, a special set of tasks will be available, rewarding you with unique in-game items upon completion. The update will also include various fixes and balancing changes to enhance gameplay, with more surprises yet to be revealed.
The Under Surveillance: Part 2 event is already on the horizon and promises to bring the next phase of Amelia’s Plan. You are encouraged to stay prepared as the storyline deepens, and new content continues to roll out.

Looking ahead, Season 3 of The Outlast Trials is set to expand the horror experience further. It will introduce a new Trial map, two additional MK-Challenges, a new Deluxe Catalog, a new enemy NPC, a brand-new game mode, and much more. Further details on these features will be shared closer to the update’s release.
In addition to the upcoming content, Red Barrels took a moment to acknowledge the creative contributions from fans. A First Year Anniversary Zine, crafted by talented fan artists, celebrates the game’s evolution over the past year. This collection of artwork reflects the community’s dedication and love for the terrifying world of The Outlast Trials.
The Outlast Trials is currently available on PC via Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5. The new content will arrive in the upcoming major update on March 25, 2025.
