BAFTA-nominated developer Firefly Studios have revealed more units for their upcoming title Stronghold: Warlords. The new units include a Samurai, an Imperial Guardsman, and an Imperial Warrior. This comes more than a month after the studio revealed Siege units for the game back in April.
Though a release date has still not been announced, we might be inching closer to some details this summer. Stronghold: Warlords was originally revealed back at E3 2019 last year.
The new units come with the ability to land precision strikes, clear out walls of archers instantly, or simply deal high damage with the powerful weapons that they wield. Each new unit will also have a new set of tactics.
Moving on to the details of the units, the Samurai has the ability to charge down enemies that try to stand in their way. They can eliminate high priority units like Generals with Precision Strike, and have a very unique role to play in the game. Samurai have a steady movement speed but are weak to gunpowder as they can be swarmed by cavalry or hit by a gunpowder-fueled missile.
The other unit is the Imperial Guardsman, who at first might be very expensive but have a heavy mace that they can swing to dent the enemy forces. They are best used for a heavy attack in combat and clear out a large area in a wide arc with their attacks. The Guardsmen can be used to clear out castle walls, and unarmored troops to break and dismantle their weapons.
Lastly, the Imperial Warrior is another unit being introduced in the game, and unlike the Samurai, they lack special ability. However, they make for it with their high armor rating and damage output thanks to the weapons they wield. They are resistant to any archer fire, fire lancers, but not against heavy siege weapons. The Imperial Warrior should form part of the front line in any castle siege or any large scale open field battle.
