Sony has partnered with Jade Raymond to create a new independent studio called Haven Studios. The announcement was made by Raymond, who is a Canadian video game creator best known for working on the Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dogs franchises.
The studio is based in Montreal and will be working on a completely new title exclusive to the PlayStation. Jade Raymond released a brief statement announcing her partnership with Sony to bring Haven.
Today I’m announcing Haven, an independent studio where many of the talented game developers I have worked with for years (and love dearly!) are coming together to do what we are most passionate about. It’s time for us to refocus on GAMES in a place where we can practice our craft without any barriers or impediments. We want to create worlds where players can escape, have fun, express themselves, and find community. We want to pour our passion into a project. We want to make something wondrous for people to experience. Because we believe in the power of games to bring joy to lives. And Sony does, too. Their commitment to excellence is unmatched. It’s why I couldn’t be happier for their backing and support.
Raymond also revealed that the studio is not only going to be a haven for players, but also a studio that is a haven for developers. More details are unsurprisingly less at the moment, considering that the announcement and the creation of the studio is pretty new. However, Raymond has teased that Haven Studios is already working on an unannounced IP.
Jade Raymond is one of the most popular names in the industry where she has worked at companies like Electronic Arts and Ubisoft for leadership roles. She was recently part of the Stadia Games and Entertainment which was, unfortunately, shut down earlier this year by Google, prompting Raymond to leave the company.
