After many delays, Analgesic Productions has finally announced the release date of its upcoming story-driven 3D platformer Sephonie. Sephonie will release on PC on April 12, 2022, and will also arrive on Mac on the same day as well. Analgesic Productions is known for its previous titles Anodyne 1 & 2 and by looking at the art of Sephonie, you will notice similarities here and there when it comes to the visual design of the game.
Sephonie follows the journey of shipwrecked biologists Amy, Ing-wen, and Riyou who must explore the island’s massive cave network and link with unidentified species using the novel Puzzle Grid system. The gameplay features an acrobatic moveset that gives a parkour-ish look to it, and you use these moves to navigate lust, jade canopies, and rust sandstone spires. You can fling yourself over high ledges and wall-run across dangerous outcroppings with each.
Your goal is to research the island’s unknown creatures by Linking with them using the one-of-kind Puzzle Grid system. You will have to rotate and place a series of multi-colored pieces onto the board to create large, same-colored islands. Each creature offers a different challenge, and you will have to figure out how to solve the puzzle for each creature in order to Link with them. The developer has released a new release date trailer for Sephonie as well. Check it out below:
The game was revealed back in March 2021 and it was originally planned for a Q4 2021 release however the developer later pushed the game into 2022 and now we have the title releasing next week. If you want to add the game to your wishlist for later or buy it right now, you can head over to the title’s Steam page.
