Indie developer Tara Kan and publisher Spaghetti Cat have released Provoron on PC via Steam, bringing players an atmospheric adventure centered on a white crow who can see demons hidden inside the minds of others.
The game follows Ankou, a white crow whose unusual ability becomes the foundation of a story dealing with loneliness, doubt, identity, and the uncertain boundary between imagination and reality. While Ankou sees red imps inside the heads of other crows, it is unclear whether these creatures represent an actual threat or something that exists only from his perspective.
As the number of demons grows, Ankou begins a journey to understand what is happening and determine whether the creatures need to be eliminated. The game’s central mystery, however, also turns inward. Ankou must question whether he is actually seeing something others cannot or whether his perception of the world has become distorted.
Provoron combines exploration and puzzle-solving with narrative choices. Players can encounter enigmas that reveal additional information about the game’s world and its characters, with some puzzles designed to alter how situations are perceived. Decisions throughout the story can also influence how players understand Ankou’s circumstances and lead to multiple endings through three different acts.
Rather than presenting its supernatural elements as a straightforward battle between good and evil, Provoron uses them to explore more personal questions. Its story asks who actually needs saving, whether Ankou can trust his own perception, and how loneliness can affect the way someone understands the world around them.
The game’s hand-drawn visual presentation supports its more introspective approach, creating an imagined setting where the line between psychological experience and external reality is deliberately difficult to establish.
Provoron is now available on PC via Steam. The game supports English, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and German subtitles. To celebrate its launch, the developer is also offering a 10% discount until August 24, 2026.
