Hopoo Games announces that their co-op roguelike action game Risk of Rain 2 has crossed 1 million copies sold on Steam’s Early Access in just a month. This is a big achievement for the studio as the original game Risk of Rain took 5 years to reach the same number.
This is an impressive milestone especially for Hopoo Games, which is a relatively small indie developer, that started with just two people. While the first game Risk of Rain was good too, it hadn’t taken the markets by storm like its predecessor. The game had sold more than 600,000 in a single week, while the rest 400,000 game in the three weeks that followed.
We are very excited to announce that Risk of Rain 2 passed over 1 million sales on Steam alone in a month since our Early Access launch! We are excited to see how many of you are jumping into RoR 2. Thank you all so much – we feel very lucky.

Hopoo games started as a team of two indie developers, who were a pair of University of Washington students. Risk of Rain was an award-winning game back in the day, while the studio came up with another game called Deadbolt in 2016.
What is even more interesting is that the game is still in Early Access, and it not fully released yet, and is selling a lot. Hopoo has not taken this lightly and is working to add more content with every update.
The team is quite busy in adding new survivors, stages, and bosses. Players can also expect to see new items and equipment released with every update. This summer, we will get to see Skills 2.0, while fall of this year will bring something called “Hidden Realms.” In Winter, we will get the “Artifacts 2.0” system, while Spring of next year is the target for the 1.0 launch and the final boss of the game.
If you haven’t played Risk of Rain 1 or 2, both games are available on Steam for $9.99 and $19.99. IF you have played Risk of Rain 2, let us know what you think of the game. Post your comments below.
