Red Dead Redemption 2 comes eight years after the first game that was released back in 2010. The first game was well praised, mainly due to story plot, the amazing gameplay mechanics, dialogues and the world setting. The Red Dead Redemption 2 details we have known so far, does not fall short from the grace the franchise has.
Recently, Rockstar has confirmed that Red Dead Redemption 2 entire game can be played in the first-person mode, right from the very beginning. Rockstar mentioned it as ‘Possible’ and that all the gunfights, horse riding, free-roaming on foot, conversations with NPCs, fistfights, all ‘Possible’ in first-person mode.
The first-person mode can be triggered by pressing the controller’s touch button on PS4. This triggers a cycle between three camera perspective. Third-person is the default view, then you can switch to first-person mode or the third view is cinematic cameras.
Polygon mentioned a segment where the lead character Arthur Morgan jumps off the horse and the horse is covered in dirt. So when you switch to first-person mode and start brushing off the dirt on horse’s mane, you will see the particles off dirt flying away.
Gamespot mentioned a free roam segment where the first-person mode can put challenge for players and get exhausting due to limited field of view. It was mentioned that the players got ran over by a horse while in first-person mode, roaming the streets of a town.
Rockstar previously added the first-person mode to GTA V. The mode initially was not included in the game. Rockstar added it when the game launched two years later for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
In Red Dead Redemption 2 we will get the first-person mode from the start. The first-person mode can prove to be a unique experience as well as challenging. For better or worse, it is a welcome step to know Rockstar has added it to game.
Red Dead Redemption 2 releases October 26, 2018 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platform only. The PC version of the game is not in sight so far.
