PS4 Remote Play Finally Arrives on iOS Devices with New Update

Remote Play iOS

After four years of releasing PS4 Remote Play support on Sony Xperia, the support has now finally arrived on iOS devices. Sony has released a new firmware update for PS4 6.50 which allows Remote Play use with iPhones and iPads.

This feature is very useful as it allows users to use their phone if they want to start and stream their console directly to their phone. The official PS App for iPhones can now be used to boot and stream games directly without the need of any third-party app.

Sony Xperia users have been enjoying this feature since 2014. The feature allowed all users who had Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact to boot and play video games on their PS4 console directly using their mobile devices. The service only streams the gameplay on the mobile device’s gameplay.

Players were able to use their Dualshock 4 controllers as well while playing with the mobile devices with Remote Play which added even more convenience to the Remote Play feature. Now after four years, iPhone and iPad users can do the same however we do not know if Dualshock controllers are supported with iOS devices.

It seems unfair that Sony has released the support at a time when the current generation is almost nearing its end. However, it is never too later for such a cool feature. Not everyone will directly jump to the next generation right away.

To use the Remote Play feature, players must update their iOS to version 12.1 and the PS4 to the latest version as well. Without these updates, the Remote Play feature will not work.

The PS4 firmware update 6.50 is now live on the servers and you can turn on your consoles to update right away if you want to try out the Remote Play feature with your iOS devices.
