Previously, the Pokemon Trading Card Game received the Sword & Shield Fusion Strike Expansion back in November 2021. Currently, another expansion for Pokemon Trading Card Game: Sword & Shield – Astral Radiance is also in development, and it will release later on May 27, 2022. It will introduce the Radiant Pokemon Gameplay mechanic to the Pokemon TCG, and it is inspired by Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
This expansion will feature the various Hisuian Pokemon and card art that showcases the Hisui region. It will also introduce Radiant Pokemon, a new gameplay mechanic which features Shiny Pokemon in etched artwork. They have a powerful Ability or attack with the potential to impact the Pokemon TCG metagame. Players will be able to add only one of these Radian Pokemon to their deck.
In addition, it will also continue to highlight Pokémon VSTAR and includes a special Trainer Gallery subset of 30 cards with artwork featuring fan-favorite Trainers and Pokémon. Noteworthy cards from the expansion include:
- Three Radiant Pokémon
- Eight Pokémon VSTAR
- 21 Pokémon V and two Pokémon VMAX
- More than 20 Trainer cards
Sword & Shield—Astral Radiance will be available in booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes, and special collections, with the Sword & Shield—Astral Radiance Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box available for preorder on March 8, exclusively at Pokémon Center in the US, Canada, and the UK.
