Guide – Pokémon Masters
Our Pokémon Masters Guide details everything that you need to know about playing Pokémon Masters.
Understand the Move Gauge
Combat takes a brand new turn in Pokémon Masters because it is now heavily dependent on the newly introduced Move Gauge. It is the gauge located in the bottom-middle of your screen as you are playing the game. Consider this as a permit to all your combat moves. If your move gauge is not filled, you cannot take a turn in the game. Since the game features turn-based move-gauge based combat, your game will be on halt until you have enough move gauge for your turn.
Each move will slowly empty your move gauge until the point it becomes completely empty. However, do not worry because it gradually refills over time. This is one of the mechanics where you will need to pay real-money of you want to speed up the process and keep the gauge filled at all times but if you don’t want to dish out any cash, you can simply wait until the gauge is filled over time and you can have your turn again.
The bad part is that the battle does not stop if you run out of move gauge. The battle keeps going and your enemies will continue to attack you and take your health down if you run out of move gauge. For this, you must ensure that you have enough move gauge before entering any battle. Wait out and enter battles only when you are 100% sure that your move gauge is enough for the upcoming battle.
Evolving Your Pokémon
Pokémon Evolution is a key mechanic of every Pokémon game and it has a complete overhaul in Pokémon Masters as well. For starters, the evolution is not automatic anymore and even if your Pokémon reach the required evolution level, they will not evolve themselves. Then there’s a special Evolution Battle that you must complete and win for your Pokémon to evolve in the game which is yet another brand new mechanic in the game. We have detailed the complete process in our detailed Pokémon Masters Evolution guide. Make sure that you read it to find more about evolution in Pokémon Masters.
Sync Pairs and Sync Moves
Another brand new mechanic in play in Pokémon Masters is Sync Pairs which brings with it Sync Moves. Sync Pairs are essentially the pair of a trainer along with a Pokémon which is most suited to the trainer. Ever Pokémon trainer excels at a specific type of Pokémon. Combine a type with the trainer at which they excel and you get yourself a Sync Pair. Every Sync Pair in the game comes with their own unique Sync Moves.
Sync Moves are essentially heavy attacks which must be charged first before they can be used. To charge a Sync Move, simply attack the enemies with regular moves until you are ready to use your Sync Move. Sync Moves deal massive amounts of damage to your enemies and you are best if you use them when your Move Gauge is low to make them most effective in the battle.
Make sure that you check out our detailed Pokémon Masters Sync Pairs guide to read more on this specific mechanic in detail.
Changing your Pokémon in the Game
Unfortunately, you cannot change your Pokémon in Pokémon Masters or of any other Trainer in your party. With the introduction of Sync Pairs, you only have the option to switch out the entire Sync Pair to opt for new Pokémon in your party. Create Sync Pairs of different types and only then you will be able to have a decent collection of Pokémon to fight within battles.
You can change your team and switch in or out more Pokémon either by visiting Trinnia or the hub. Make sure that you are using Sync Pairs for maximum combat effectiveness because Sync Pairs deal additional damage to enemies with their powerful Sync Moves.
Always Go for Type Advantages
One classic feature has made its way in Pokémon Masters and it is the type advantage and disadvantages. It means that Pokémon are still weak against certain types of Pokémon and strong against certain types of Pokémon. This feature is present in Pokémon Masters and you can easily use the type advantages to your benefit in the game. To make this mechanic even easier, the game now tells you the weakness of your opponent in the game so you must always go for type advantages in the game.
