In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you can find the classic Kanto starter trio: Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur in Wild Zone 20. However, this area is locked and can be unlocked after finishing the main story and seeing the end credits. The good thing is that you don’t have to wait until the end of the game to get them. There is a way to get these starters early in the game from Mable, but you can get only one of them. Our Pokemon Legends: Z-A Kanto Starters Guide details how you can get Kanto Starter Pokemon from Mable.
How to Get Kanto Starter Early in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
After completing the ninth side mission in the game and healing your Pokémon at a Pokémon Center, we will receive a call from Mable. Mable will ask us to begin Side Mission 022.
It’s not clear what exactly triggers this mission. Some players mention that it can depend on your Research Rank with Mable or how far you’ve progressed in the main story quests.
Once Mable contacts you, open your map and Fast Travel to the Pokémon Research Lab, located in the southern part of the city, right next to Wild Zone 1. Go inside, take the elevator to the top floor, and talk to Mable. She will let you pick one of the three starters. Choose carefully, since you can only pick one.
How to Mega Evolve Kanto Starters
There is a Stone Emporium store in the city, which has many items and stones to offer and sell. This store sells Evolution Stones as well as Mega Stones later for many Pokémons to evolve. It is located on Vernal Avenue, just northwest of Wild Zone 1.
As you progress through the story, you will be able to Mega Evolve Charizard and Blastoise with the help of Stones, though they will be quite expensive. For Venusaurite, you’ll need to take part in a special battle that appears later in the main story. Winning this battle will reward you with the stone needed to Evolve.
Getting one of these iconic Kanto starters early can give your team a big advantage. That is all for this guide. Additional Pokemon Legends: Z-A guides are linked below:
