Pikachu is the most beloved Pokemon in the Pokemon Legends: Z-A. An Alpha Pikachu can be found quite early in the game. Whether you want it for your collection, for shiny hunting, or to take on Pikami’s Pokemon in the “The World’s Greatest Pikachu” side mission, you can easily get it early in the game if you know the right tricks and the right place. Our Pokemon Legends: Z-A Alpha Pikachu Guide details how to obtain an Alpha version of Pikachu easily.
Alpha Pikachu Guide – Pokemon Legends: Z-A
You can find a guaranteed Alpha Pikachu in Wild Zone 6, located on the rooftops of the area. Go to the left corner of Wild Zone 6, where you will see Cafe Bataille near the northern entrance.
You will find a ladder that leads up to the roof next to the battle arena. Climb it to reach the top. At the top, you will spot an Alpha Pikachu of Level 40-42. It is standing next to the chimneys.
To catch it easily, follow these tips:
- Save your game before catching it so you can reset if you fail.
- Sneak behind Pikachu and throw a Quick Ball while its back is turned.
- If the above step is unsuccessful, try using Great Balls or Ultra Balls.
- If Pikachu becomes angry, defeat it and then throw one Poke Ball at the end.
- If it still escapes or something happens and you can’t catch it, reload your save and try again until you catch it.
This Alpha Pikachu is a fixed spawn, which means that even if you defeat or catch it, it will respawn later after some time. It always has three perfect IVs and maximum HP EVs (252), making it very strong and perfect for battles.
You can also get the Shiny Alpha Pikachu in Pokemon Legends: Z-A because it is not shiny-locked. To increase your chances, it is best to get the Shiny Charm, which raises your odds from 1 in 4096 to 1 in 1024. With enough patience, you can get one of them.
Side Mission 107: The World’s Greatest Pikachu
Side Mission 107 requires you to face a very tough challenge. You need to defeat Pikami’s Pikachu, a Level 66 Pikachu holding a Light Ball. You can only have one Pikachu with no other Pokemon allowed.
To defeat it, you need to catch the Alpha Pikachu from Wild Zone 6. Then, level it up to Level 65 or higher using EXP. Candies, Rare Candies, or by training it normally with a Lucky Egg. Give it this move set:
- Dig
- Iron Tail
- Quick Attack
- Protect
How to Beat Pikami’s Pikachu
The simple trick to this fight is all about the timing of the Dig attack. Pikami’s Pikachu also knows Dig, and that move can knock out your Pikachu.
Here’s the strategy to win this:
- Wait for Pikami’s Pikachu to start using Dig.
- When you see it using the Dig, and it is in Dig animation, use Dig with your Pikachu right after. This way, your Pikachu will go underground and stay safe during the attack. The player who uses Dig first will always lose, so timing is key.
- You should use Protect just as Pikami’s Pikachu’s Dig attack is about to hit to block the damage.
- Also use Iron Tail and Quick Attack when Dig is on cooldown. When the cooldown is over, repeat the same steps above.
Upon completion, you will get the following rewards:
- 7,000 Poke Dollars
- Light Ball ×1
- Exp. Candy L ×3
