Sony has just raised the subscription price of PlayStation Vue by $5 across all tiers. The price increase means that the basic plan will now cost $50 a month. All the current subscribers will have to pay the new prices after July 31.
Sony also provides the reason behind the decision to increase prices, saying that the rising costs of content that the competitors are charging, and the increase of a number of services offered. The company is not the only one increasing the prices as its competitors have all done the same thing in recent months.
With costs rising each year for content, we constantly evaluate each deal to ensure we continue to deliver the content you want while considering the overall value of each package. After reviewing this, we have made the decision to raise the price of all of our multi-channel plans by $5.
Other streaming services like Netflix, YouTube TV, and DirectTVNow have all raised their prices earlier this year.
The company also announced that it will soon be adding NHL Network and ACC Network to its plan. This will give the Vue an edge as it will give a compelling choice for sports viewers with its Sports Pack. This pack will cost $10 a month and will give you access to the NFL Network, NBC Sports, Fox Sports Networks, beIN, and regional networks.
With the new prices, the basic package for Vue, called the Access plan, will not cost $50, and the Core plan will cost you $55. The higher end plans which are the Elite and Ultra will cost $65 and $85 per month.
