Picture showing Nvidia Ampere GA102 GPU has been leaked by chiphell.com. The GA102 GPU chip is based on the NVIDIA’s new Ampere architecture and it will be powering the next-generation GeForce RTX 3090 & GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card.

The RTX 3090 and 3080 will be the flagship cards of the RTX 3000 series and they will be using the Ampere GA102 GPU chip to deliver massive performance gains over the Turing based TU102 GPU chip. The image which was leaked on chiphell.com showed the codename ‘GA102-300-A1’ imprinted on the GPU chip.

The picture also shows the processor having QUAL Sample written on it which means that it was distributed to board partners for custom graphics card development.

Twitter user Rogame has done a more detailed analysis of the leaked GA102 GPU chip. He says that the die was mirrored to complete the entire package. It turns out that the GA102 GPU could measure around 628mm2, which will make it slightly smaller than the TU102 GPU die which was 754mm2. This measurement seems to be right as it was reported earlier that the GA102 die size was 627.12mm2 to be exact.

This analysis shows that the GA102 will be used in the RTX 3090 and even the RTX 3080 series. The GA102-300-A1 SKU has previously been reported to be powering the RTX 3090 and these leaks me confirm this.

The NVIDIA GA102-300 is expected to feature 5248 CUDA cores. This is about a 20% increase from the RTX 2080Ti. The graphics card featuring this GPU is expected to be equipped with 24 GB of GDDR6X memory and will be the flagship GPU for NVIDIA RTX 3000 series. The bus bandwidth for this card will be a huge 384-bit.

The next-generation Nvidia Ampere GeForce RTX 3000 graphics cards are expected to be announced on 1st September on a special live event planned by NVIDIA. At least three new graphic cards are expected during this event. We will have to wait and see what NVIDIA has planned for its consumers.
