With PAC-MAN turning 40 today, Numskull Designs is celebrating this amazing milestone with the launch of Limited-Edition PAC-MAN Quarter Arcades. PAC-MAN was launched on arcade machines in 1980 and today, it has turned 40 years old. For this limited-edition release, Numskull Designs is partnering up with BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment to introduce and launch a variety of PAC-MAN exclusives.
The main highlight of this celebration is the release of the extremely limited PAC-MAN 40th Anniversary Quarter Arcades. These Quarter Arcades will launch in two different variants. One of the variants will only get 256 units and all of them will be signed by none other than the original PAC-MAN creator, Toru Iwatani. The 256 number represents the number of levels in the game. These signed versions of the Quarter Arcades will cost fans $349. Each of these cabinets will also be numbered with unique number plaques.
Apart from the signed ones, you can also go for the cheaper versions which come with everything featured on the signed ones, only that these will not be signed by Toru Iwatani. They also look same as well so the only different among the two variants is the sign. These unsigned variants will cost you $149.99. These Quarter Arcades offer a ¼ scale replica of the original arcade cabinet for the ultimate PAC-MAN game that you can have at home.
The Quarter Arcades are fully functional and they operate just like a full arcade does. It features authentic artwork, button/joystick sizes, and coin-mechanism all shrunk down proportionately. It is convenient for playing and displaying at home for fans who want to have the full arcade fun right in their homes without needing too much space.
