New Red Dead Online Update Released, Brings Major Changes

Rockstar Games has released 2019’s first major update for Red Dead Online and it brings tons of changes to the core game. New additions and changes include new gameplay, weapons and clothing, additional balancing and many other improvements which were specifically requested by fans after the initial release of Red Dead Online.

Starting with new gameplay, players will now be able to complete Daily Challenges and earn Gold Nuggets and XP. These are brand new challenges which will change every day and they will range from skinning animals to going on treasure hunts in the Wild West. Each day players will get 7 brand new challenges to complete and win rewards.

From next week, players will be able to participate in a brand new Free Roam Event called Fool’s Gold where players earn points by wearing a Gilder Armor suit. Take the wearer down and wear it yourself to earn more points. Rockstar also plans to add new game modes every week after the initial week of the update.

Some of these new challenges and game modes include new Fishing Challenges and three brand new Showdown Modes which will allow players to participate in events which include capturing bags and delivering them, stealing loot from each other and trying to survive. More details about these new modes Up in Smoke, Spoils of War and Plunder will be announced soon.

Coming to weapons, players now have access to Rare Shotgun and Evans Repeater in Red Dead Online. Rare Shotgun is more powerful version of the double-barreled Longarm while Evans Repeater is a powerful high grade rifle that is very effective at both long and medium range. Both weapons can be purchased from Wheeler & Rawson Catalogue or local gunsmiths.

The new patch also brings new clothing, new emotes and different world enhancements as well. The game now has updated player radar and visibility. Easier Parlier and Feuds System along with a more enhanced Law and Bounty System is also in effect now. Anyone who plays Red Dead Online before March 5, 2019 will also get the following bonuses.

  • 2x Potent Snake Oil
  • 2x Potent Bitters
  • 2x Potent Miracle Tonic
  • 2x Horse Reviver
  • 2x Potent Horse Stimulant
  • 8x Poison Arrows
  • 10x Explosive Slug

In the end, PlayStation users will be delighted to know that they are also getting early access to some exclusive content.  These new clothing options, new emotes and a new weapon Jawbone Knife is exclusive to PS4 players at this point and will arrive later for Xbox One players. PS4 players are also getting some exclusive events to play.
