Serenity Forge has just announced its haunting fable, Neversong releasing on consoles this month on July 16. The game will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch.
This comes as no surprise as the game was previously successfully released on the PC, and getting 92% positive on Steam. Serenity Forge has also changed the name of the game, which was previously called Once Upon a Coma. When it does launch for consoles later this month, it will be available for digital purchase and will cost you $17.49.
So what is Neversong? It is all about the death of youthfulness, but more importantly, the redemption one can achieve after the loss of their innocence. The game will have you discover who you really are, deep down when you were actually a child. The game subtly plays around dark themes, where the developers wanted to communicate not only the sneaky nature of depression but also the tremendous value in remembering who we are despite our circumstances or present mental state. The goal of the game will ultimately make you feel valued and loved.
The gameplay will have you waking up from a coma, where you will find out about Peet’s lost best friend. You will have to investigate the screams coming from the heart of Neverwood, the increasingly bizarre behavior of the zombie grownups, and the strand trut about Peet’s past in this hauntingly dreamlike fable.
Here are the key features of the game:
- From Red Wind Field to the haunting halls of Blackfork Asylum, explore six moody, illustrative levels.
- Take bosses, monsters, and zombie grownups with your trusty baseball bat.
- Immerse yourself in a breathtaking piano-centric soundtrack.
- Join your quirky childhood pals and faithful pet bird on an adventure to discover the truth about your recent coma.
