Developer Junkfish has announced that the second game in their asymmetrical horror game franchise Monstrum 2 is releasing at the end of this month in early access. Apart from the early access release, an open beta for the game will also release next week allowing players to jump in the game and try it out before purchasing the Early Access version of the game when it comes a week later.
Monstrum 2 is the multiplayer sequel to the cult-favorite original Monstrum. Monstrum will feature brand-new puzzles, new monsters, and new procedurally generated environments allowing up to 4 prisoners to escape Sparrow Lock, a sea-stranded facility from any one of the monstrous experiments. You will be free to explore Sparrow Lock as you try to clear obstacles, unlock new areas, and find different useful items that will help you against the monsters prowling the facility.
The game will combine first-person stealth gameplay with a puzzle-first focus on survival horror however players will need to come with a strategy in order to solve puzzles and escape from the monster because head-on confrontations are not possible if you want to survive in the game. The game will also feature scalable difficulty that will adjust automatically to the number or players and procedurally generate layouts, traps, rooms, and puzzles. This will ensure that no playthrough will be ever the same for you.
Right at the start of Early Access, the game will feature three unique and different monsters. Each of these monsters will have its own unique abilities and playstyles. These will range from smashing through walls, climbing on ceilings, leaping across distancing, or teleporting to its prey. Each monster in the game is smarter this time around and will use unique ways to ambush unsuspecting players. One of the monsters, Malacosm has been teased today as well.
If you are interested in trying out the game before jumping in the Early Access, an Open Beta weekend is taking place on January 23-24, 2021, and will allow everyone to try out the game. It will have the same amount of content as that of the Early Access so it will be a perfect start if you want to jump in Early Access release later which is scheduled for January 28, 2021.
