Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Amiibo Guide – All Unlocks, Rewards, and How to Use Them

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Amiibo Guide

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond brings players back into an immersive first-person experience as Samus Aran takes on another dangerous mission. Alongside exploration and combat, the game also includes full support for amiibo figures, which can be scanned to unlock extra content. Each amiibo unlocks special rewards, although some features only become available after certain parts of the game are completed. This Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Amiibo Guide details everything that you need to know about Amiibos in the game.

How to Use Amiibo in Metroid Prime 4

To scan an amiibo in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond:

  1. Open the game menu using the (-) button
  2. Move left or right until you reach the amiibo tab
  3. Select Scan amiibo
  4. Touch the amiibo to the NFC reader on your controller

Even if the menu only shows the Metroid Prime 4 amiibo, you can still scan all Metroid series amiibo from this screen.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond – Specific Amiibo Rewards

In Metroid Prime 4, you have three new amiibo designed specifically for this game:

  • Samus Aran (Metroid Prime 4: Beyond)
  • Samus and Vi-O-La (Metroid Prime 4: Beyond)
  • Sylux (Metroid Prime 4: Beyond)

Each one provides you with different bonuses when scanned.

Samus Aran Amiibo Rewards

You need to scan Amiibos to get rewards and bonuses, as we discussed earlier. You will get an Energy Shield on scanning Samus Aran amiibo. You can activate this shield only once per day. After scanning, the game will ask if you want to use it immediately. As the name suggests, this shield will help you in many ways. It saves you by taking most of the damage. The shield will be destroyed after Samus takes 99 damage, and all of this damage is absorbed by it. Upon activating, Samus’ energy will also be restored.

This amiibo also unlocks a jukebox feature for Samus’ bike, which becomes available after completing Volt Forge. Scanning the amiibo unlocks three music tracks:

  • Vi-O-La Theme
  • Volt Forge Theme
  • Xelios Theme

After finishing the game, two more tracks are added to the above playlist:

  • Metroid Prime Theme
  • Metroid Prime 4 Theme

Samus and Vi-O-La Amiibo Rewards

When you scan the Samus and Vi-O-La amiibo, like the Samus Aran, it provides you with several bike-related rewards:

  • A once-per-day Boost Recovery for the bike, usable only in Sol Valley
  • An odometer feature that tracks the total distance traveled on Vi-O-La, which will be available after Volt Forge.

As you ride the bike in the game while exploring, you can unlock new visual themes. For every 50,000 meters traveled, a new bike skin becomes available. In total, you can unlock seven extra skins, plus the default one in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.

Vi-O-La Bike Skins and Unlock Distance

The following section will help you get all these skins:

  • Default Theme – Available by default
  • Samus Varia Theme – You need to travel at least 50,000m to unlock the skin.
  • Sylux Theme – You need to travel at least 100,000m to unlock the skin.
  • Metroid Prime Theme – You need to travel at least 150,000m to unlock the skin.
  • Space Pirate Theme – You need to travel at least 200,000m to unlock the skin.
  • Ancient Theme – You need to travel at least 250,000m to unlock the skin.
  • Psychic Era Theme – You need to travel at least 300,000m to unlock the skin.
  • Vi-O-La Suit Theme – You need to travel at least 350,000m to unlock the skin.

Sylux Amiibo Rewards

When you scan the Sylux amiibo, it causes random voice lines from the character to play. It also unlocks a special extended cutscene, which combines all of the game’s individual cutscenes into one full video. This can be viewed from the Gallery menu. Players who do not own the Sylux amiibo can still unlock this extended cutscene by completing 100% of the game, but the amiibo allows access much earlier.

Rewards from Older Metroid Amiibo

Amiibo from earlier Metroid games also work in Metroid Prime 4. While these do not unlock major gameplay rewards, they still include fun extras for fans like Easter Eggs.

Scanning any of the following amiibo will play one of five Metroid sound effects, chosen randomly:

  • Dark Samus Amiibo (Super Smash Bros.)
  • E.M.M.I. Amiibo (Metroid Dread)
  • Metroid Amiibo (Metroid series)
  • Ridley Amiibo (Super Smash Bros.)
  • Samus Amiibo (Super Smash Bros.)
  • Samus Amiibo (Metroid Dread)
  • Samus Aran Amiibo (Metroid series)
  • Zero Suit Samus Amiibo (Super Smash Bros.)
