Infinity Ward Teasing New Call of Duty Game, Expected Release in 2019

Infinity Ward might have been teasing the next Call of Duty for quite some time and we might have missed it all along. Ashton Williams is senior communications manager at Infinity Ward and she has been sharing some really weird gifs and images on her Twitter account for quite some time.

These images and gifs are all related to skulls and ghosts and recently, she has pinned a gif to her Twitter page. We all know that this year’s Call of Duty is being developed by Infinity Ward and this might be something related to a new game as the pictures do not really relate to her.

These images and Gifs have been coming on her account since last November and the initial thought of it being a Halloween related post is now clearly out of the question. Since all pictures are of skulls and ghosts, the best assumption that comes to mind is that it could be Ghosts which was released back in 2014 with the new generation of consoles.

It was very poorly received at that time and no one wanted the series to continue. However, this has been mentioned by Kotaku’s Jason Shreir as well on a ResetEra thread as well that the 2019 CoD will not be Ghosts 2. This leaves us with the assumption that the new title could be Infinite Warfare 2 or Modern Warfare 4.

Infinite Warfare was a very decent title in the franchise and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole space setting for the game. It was a brave new direction of the franchise and it was a decent entry in the franchise nonetheless. We would love if the next title in the franchise is Infinite Warfare 2. Its space setting and unique combat mechanics really set the game apart from its previous titles in the franchise.

However, the chances of Modern Warfare 4 cannot be ruled out as well. A few months ago, after Black Ops 4 was released, some important Respawn developers came back to Infinity Ward. These people are known for making the Modern Warfare franchise a true success. Now that they are back in the saddle, they might take the franchise to the next level with Modern Warfare 4.

The next title in Call of Duty franchise is surely to come out in 2019. We are expecting the reveal to be during E3 in June 2019 however if something comes up before that, we will surely share it with you. Check out the latest Tweet from Ashton below.
