Our Mortal Shell 2 Guide details how you can get your first shell in the game, which is called the Proxima Shell. You can get the Proxima Shell just after completing the game’s prologue and first boss. Once you have unlocked the map and get to Marrow Keep, you can traverse the area and get to the Shell without taking any fights from the enemies.
Proxima Shell Guide – Mortal Shell 2
Once you have completed the prologue and first boss, keep moving forward until you unlock the map and reach Marrow Keep. There you will see a large building with a character in front of it surrounded by several Shells; enter the building and proceed straight through the rooms. Pass the Beacon and go into the next room where you will see a large piece of apparatus. Go past it, and you’ll reach a room that has a lift in it.
Climb all the way to the top of the building using the lift. On the upper section, search for the route going down, where you’ll find the mechanism that will shoot you towards Widow’s Overlook. Use the slingshot system to head to Widow’s Overlook. This place is unlocked by default, and you can access it at any time once you reach the launching mechanism.
Once you have reached Widow’s Overlook, switch on the Beacon nearby and head towards the path in front of you, and don’t engage with enemies on this route; just run past them and focus on reaching the Shell as quickly as possible.
Continue moving forward until you reach a bridge. You will find another beacon on the left side that you can activate before you continue moving. After that, turn right and stay on the left side of the trail.
Continue to move past the enemies and go up the small ramp and through the archway. You’ll eventually see another Beacon and a cave-like entrance. Now enter the area and take the path downwards. At the end of this path is where you will see a Proxima Shell waiting inside.
Interact with the Proxima Shell to pick it up. After you have acquired it, the game will prompt you to switch to the new Shell. Select yes and then start using the shell. The Shell has high durability and will protect the player from lightning attacks, and it is an excellent early upgrade.
You can complete the entire journey to get the Proxima Shell without defeating and engaging with the enemies at all. The safest way to get to the Shell is to skirt them and take the trail through Marrow Keep and Widows Overlook.
