Sony Announces Ghost of Tsushima State of Play, PlayStation Studios for PS5

PlayStation Studios

Sony has been awfully quiet regarding its next-gen console and its games for quite some time however Sony has revealed its brand new branding for all PS5 titles. Announced as PlayStation Studios, it will represent all first-party titles created by Sony for its upcoming next-gen console PS5. Along with this, Sony has also announced a brand new State of Play stream for later this week which will focus entirely on the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima.

PlayStation Studios will take all the current Sony Entertainment Worldwide Studios developers under its umbrella and will offer a more accessible and simpler way of promoting the brand. This is similar to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Studios which has different developers under its umbrella, all creating titles exclusively for Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. Sony has revealed a new animation that introduces the new branding as well which showcases some of the developers that are part of PlayStation Studios.

Some of the franchises that now fall under PlayStation Studios include Uncharted, God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of Us, LittleBigPlanet and Ratchet & Clank. Their developers such as Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games, Santa Monica Studio, Polyphony Digital, Media Molecule, and Sucker Punch now all fall under the umbrella of PlayStation Studios and even if people do not know about the developers, having the brand logo PlayStation Studios will instantly tell players that the game is a PS5 exclusive.

Sony has also announced a brand new State of Play broadcast which will focus entirely on the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima. The State of Play will take place on Thursday, May 14, 1:00 p.m. PT. The official blog post states that the broadcast will focus on new gameplay footage which will include exploration, combat, and more. The duration of the broadcast will be around 18 minutes and will be live on Twitch and YouTube channels of PlayStation.

Sony recently pushed Ghost of Tsushima further into July 2020 after a massive story leak for The Last of Us: Part II forced Sony to release The Last of Us: Part II early in June 2020. The new decision has pushed Ghost of Tsushima ahead by one month however we are really looking forward to this brand new State of Play broadcast for some more scoop on the upcoming title.
