Fortnite Will Get a New Game Engine Ahead of Season 2 Launch Next Month

Epic Games has announced that the upcoming second season of Fortnite Chapter 2 will get a new game engine. Epic also confirmed that the release of the second season will be next month on February 20.

According to Epic Games, the new game engine is Unreal Engine’s Chaos physics system. The developing studio also added that their goal is to ensure that Fortnite still feels like Fortnite. Currently, the game is being tested with a small group of players, while the developers will be looking to add improvements.

Beginning with the release of the 11.50 update in early February, Fortnite will be moving to Unreal Engine’s Chaos physics system. At launch, the goal is to ensure that Fortnite still feels like Fortnite. Along the way there will be some bumps, so we’re starting tests with a small group of players. We’ll also closely monitor feedback and make improvements over time.

With the addition of the 11.50 update, Chapter 2 – Season 2 is now expected to launch Thursday, February 20. Season 2 will feature [blank] with multiple [blank]. We can’t brief you on all of next Season’s secrets just yet…

Epic Games’ announcement also teased features by obscuring the information saying that “Season 2 will feature [blank] with multiple [blank].”

In the meantime, players will be getting more Overtime challenges to mark the end of Season 1, and a new two-week event. More details will be shared soon on the social channels of Fortnite.
