Most characters can be recruited during Part I by building enough Support and Renown, although some recruits have additional conditions involving quests, items, money, Paralogues, dialogue choices, or story events. Character Recruitment Guide – Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave

The first thing to do when trying to recruit someone is to speak with them and check their Character Info screen. This shows the requirements you still need to meet for that character. The two main requirements are Support and Renown, although certain recruits may ask for something extra before they agree to join.

Support, shown as S, can be increased in several ways. Giving characters gifts and sharing meals at the Inn will help raise it, while Stage Shows also become another option once the theater is available.

Renown, shown as R, comes mainly from progressing through the game and completing additional content. Main missions, Subquests, Paralogues, route activities, and audiences with the Gods can all contribute toward increasing your Renown.

Some characters have requirements beyond these two systems. Depending on the recruit, you may need a certain amount of Gold, a particular item, completion of a quest or Paralogues, a correct answer during a conversation, or a specific story condition.

Support and Renown are also part of your overall save progress, meaning the progress you make with them carries between routes. If a character is marked N/A for a particular route, that character cannot be recruited there during Part I.

The Flame Lord you’re currently playing also matters. Recruitment requirements can change depending on whether you’re following Cai, Dietrich, Theodora, or Leda, and some characters automatically join when you’re playing their associated route. Others require you to complete their individual conditions.

The table below shows that several characters have recruitment requirements that are more specific than simply raising Support and Renown. They join later in the story in Parts II and III when you progress through the story.

Few of the Recruits have specific answer or item requirements. Before you try to recruit them, you must have the answer prepared and items ready,

• For Yang Jie, you’ll need to answer the quiz with Cheese, Moon, and Potatoes.
• Sha Lan has her own set of answers: Saramis, Da Mina, and Grounded Ship.
• Simon requires you to choose Tails during the coin flip.
• For Ursula, you need to answer Yes three times after completing Talimun’s Paralogue.
• Zarcone, for example, requires you to negotiate his recruitment fee, which can be brought down to as little as 10G.
• Majide has another unusual condition. You’ll need to answer his question three times before he accepts the response and joins.

Items can also become part of the recruitment process.

• Giant’s Meat can always be found at Sand Shadow Fort, while additional pieces can come from skirmishes marked with a Giant icon.
• Paradise Fish is most easily obtained at Lake Brontes in Saveilon, beyond Valhalla Mine.
• For Glirmosa, the required item can be found by searching areas including Mount Orgus Trail, Rear Mountain Path, Forest of No Return, or Giant’s Mount in Pasithea.

The recruitment conditions for Fabio and Gaitz work differently. Their special requirements only become available after the relevant team has been eliminated from the Heroic Games, which generally happens around Chapter 12.
