A new Nintendo Switch is now available which has better battery life and with that in mind, many people have been wondering if they could exchange their older Nintendo Switch for a new one. Nintendo has confirmed that there is no exchange program for the Nintendo Switch so if you were interested in trading in your older model for a new one then you will not be able to do so.
Nintendo of America confirmed this in a recent statement and here is what the company had to say regarding the matter:
We do not have a Nintendo Switch exchange program. We always want players to enjoy their Nintendo Switch systems, and if anything ever gets in the way of that, we encourage them to visit https://support.nintendo.com for support, or to contact our consumer support team.
This is the official response from Nintendo of America and even though it is unlikely, there is a small chance that things could be different in other parts of the world. Nintendo Switch is very popular in other parts of the world, such as Japan. People, there could be able to take advantage of an exchange program.
You should check with your local store for more information regarding the matter. The Nintendo Switch Lite is also around the corner and it offers a more portable experience with integrated joycons. The device is cheaper but the screen is also smaller.
It will support most of the games natively and you can use joycons with the smaller device but you will need to buy them separately which adds to the cost and defeats the purpose of buying the smaller and cheaper model.
Let us know what you think about the Nintendo Switch not having an exchange program and whether or not you were hoping to trade in your older model for a new one.
