After a wait of almost 8 years, Cyberpunk 2077 has finally released and has started off with a bang, making a new Steam record for Concurrent Players in a Single Player Game, crossing more than 1 million concurrent players on Steam at its peak on launch day.
Cyberpunk 2077 had a record high of 1,003,264 players within hours of it launching at midnight GMT on December 10. The previous record for peak players for a single-player video game on Steam was held by Fallout 4, which back at its launch in 2015 achieved a peak of 472,962 players concurrent players. Cyberpunk 2077 has smashed Fallout 4’s previous record by achieving more than double concurrent players.

Cyberpunk 2077 is also the most popular game launch of all time according to Steam numbers. And with the game available on CD Projekt Red’s own gog.com, Epic games Launcher and all the other platforms the game is available on (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, Google Stadia), the number of players playing the game is way more than the figures on Steam.
Cyberpunk 2077 has been the most anticipated game of the year and possibly, the decade. Its first teaser trailer came out on January 11, 2013 and after almost 8 years, the game is fully out. It is certainly a strong launch and we expected nothing less for one of the most anticipated games of all time.
In addition, thanks to the embargo lifting, Twitch also saw a huge viewership boost. Cyberpunk 2077 recorded a whopping 1 million viewers on Twitch as well, making it the most-viewed title there.
However, it is not plain sailing for the game as there are several performance issues and bugs plaguing the game on launch and the game received a huge 50 GB day patch to address several performance issues. We will have to wait and see how the performance improves in the coming time.
