Control Resonant New Growth Quest Guide

This Control Resonant guide details how you can complete the New Growth quest in the game easily. The quest begins with a few questions in the park, then leads into a hidden laboratory filled with dangerous mold specimens. You need to investigate Dr. Underhill’s last known locations, find her apartment, collect laboratory equipment, and track down three test subjects before returning to Underhill to decide what to do next.

New Growth Quest Guide – Control Resonant

Your first objective is to find someone who can tell you where Dr. Underhill went. Head to the Park region and enter the marked area on the map. Move towards the left side of the area, where you will find a person carrying a rifle. Speak with them and ask about Dr. Underhill and her whereabouts.

Once you’ve gathered this information, your objective will change, directing you to investigate her last known location. The next destination is a research site located towards the lower part of the map. Make your way there and look for the location on the rooftop.

Once you reach the top, search for a table with a note on it. Collect the note to progress the investigation and unlock the next objective, which requires you to search Underhill’s office in the Central Executive Region.

To reach Underhill’s office, return to a fast travel point and travel to Oldest House Central Executive in the downtown region. When you arrive, look for the two rooms marked with the number 06 on the left side near you. These rooms were previously inaccessible, but you can now enter them.

Inside the first room, check the table on the right for a note and collect any nearby loot. Then move to the other room in the same lane marked 06 and search the table inside for another note. Picking up the note in the second room will reveal your next destination, which is Underhill’s apartment. Make sure you search both rooms and collect the available items before leaving.

Underhill’s apartment is located in the Park region, although the objective may not immediately make its exact location obvious. Use fast travel to reach the Mold Factory in the park. From there, jump downwards on the right and follow the nearby road towards the apartment building. You will find the entrance blocked by enemies, so defeat them to gain access. Once the doorway is clear, enter the building and head upstairs.

On the next floor, go inside the first door on the left. Search through the apartment until you reach the final lounge area near the kitchen, where you will find Dr. Underhill. Speak with her and work through the dialogue. She will explain that you need to locate the test subjects and collect equipment from her laboratory.

After speaking with Underhill, your next task is to retrieve the equipment from the Sewer Lab. Before leaving, make sure you collect the key from the table, as you will need it to open the laboratory door. Return to the fast travel point near the area where you began this part of the quest. From there, jump down and look for the laboratory structure above you. The sewer entrance you need is located behind it in the lower area. Enter the sewer and continue until you reach a checkpoint. Take the path on the left, as the other routes lead elsewhere.

Follow this route to the laboratory door and use the key to unlock it. Inside, look for the equipment on the table and collect it along with any other useful items nearby. Once you have collected the equipment, on the right-hand side there will be an opening; jump down from there to the lower level, where you will find a test subject mold that you can interact with.

Interacting with it starts the next objective, which is to track down and defeat the test subjects. The mold will move through the surrounding areas, splitting into different routes that lead to three separate specimens. You need to follow each trail and defeat Specimens A, B, and C to complete this part of the quest.

Begin by interacting with the mold and watching which direction it takes. Although it initially moves towards the left, the route will loop around and pass in front of you. Follow it until it stops, then interact with it again to continue the trail. As you move forward, you will encounter patches of mold covering the ground. Jump over these areas and use your dash ability to cross them without staying on the ground for too long. Eventually, the trail will divide into two paths. Start with the left-hand route, which leads to Specimen A.

Follow the mold through this section, carefully avoiding the contaminated ground along the way. When you reach the specimen, defeat it to complete the first part of the objective. Your progress bar should increase to approximately 33%. You can also collect nearby loot before returning to the point where the mold trail split.

Once you’re back at the junction, interact with the mold on the right to follow the next trail. This route travels much farther through the sewer system, so keep following the mold instead of assuming you’ve reached a dead end. Continue along the path until it leads you outside. Follow it through the surrounding streets and look for the point where it climbs towards a rooftop. Use your grab ability to reach the roof and continue tracking it.

At this point, the mold will split into two new directions. Take note of the location where the paths separate, because you need to return here for the final specimen.

For now, follow the left-hand trail. Continue along the route until you reach Specimen B, then defeat it to increase your progress by another 33%

After the fight, retrace your steps back to the rooftop junction where the mold divided. Return to the same rooftop junction and interact with the remaining mold trail on the right. This route covers a considerable distance, so pay attention to where the mold travels. Follow it along the road and use the rooftops to shorten your route where possible. When the trail moves around the lower part of a building, cross over using the rooftop instead. Continue following the mold until it stops on top of the roof, then interact with it again to reveal its next direction.

The trail will lead down the side of a building and through another section of the area. Keep following it until you reach Specimen C.

Defeat the final test subject to complete the remaining portion of the objective. With all three specimens taken care of, you can return to Dr. Underhill.

Head back to Underhill’s apartment in the upper part of the Park region and speak with her again.

During the conversation, you must decide how to handle the situation. You can report Underhill and have her detained and leave without handing over the samples, or give her the samples you collected. You will receive the same quest reward for both options.
