Capcom has announced it is removing DuckTales: Remastered from all digital stores in two days. The last day for DuckTales: Remastered for anyone to purchase is August 8 and after that, the game will be removed from Steam, Xbox 360 and PS3. The game will also be removed from Xbox One Backwards Compatibility program and the Wii U store.
However, all players who have already purchased the digital version of the game on any of these platforms are safe and they can play, uninstall and reinstall the game on their consoles just fine. Same is the case with physical copy owners. Their games will continue to run just fine. Only that no one will be able to purchase the game digitally after August 8, 2018.
Capcom has shared the timetable for the removal of the game from all platforms in their official announcement. We will share it below for you.
- Wii U – August 9, 4:59 PM PDT
- PlayStation 3 – August 9, 8AM PDT
- Xbox 360, Xbox One (via Backwards Compatibility) – August 8, 5 PM PDT
- Steam (PC) – 4:59 PM PDT
Capcom also states that these times are an estimate so the game might leave a little early. If you want to purchase the game before it leaves the stores forever, you must hurry up as Capcom is also giving a massive 75% discount on the game on most platforms. The discounted price will remain live until the game is present across all stores. Once the game is gone, it is gone for good.
This just shows that digital purchases might be convenient but you are always at the risk that the game might be removed at any time based on the publisher’s decisions. In this case, physical purchases and releases are much safer as players can purchase them at any given time or simply borrow to play the game at any time they want.
