Respawn Says Anti-Cheat Measures are Working for Apex Legends, Bans 770,000 Cheaters

Apex Legends Cheaters

Respawn has been working to get a hold onto this issue, by introducing many measures to take down many cheaters. Apex Legends has been dealing with a lot of cheaters since its launch back in February of this year. It very well may be working as the company has now banned more than 770,000 players and 300,000 account creations from the game.

Cheaters had been plaguing Apex Legends with their aimbots and absurd movement speeds. Many of the cheaters have come up with creative ways to break the system. Though Respawn says that it is gaining ground in this anti-cheat war and is attacking from every angle.

Project lead Drew McCoy said,

We’ve been working closely with key experts across EA, including EA Security and Fraud, the Origin teams, and our fellow developers at DICE, FIFA, and Capital Games, in addition to Easy-Anti-Cheat, while we’ve already rolled out several updates (and will be continually doing so for the foreseeable future), others will take time to fully implement.

We’ve been working closely with key experts across EA, including EA Security and Fraud, the Origin teams, and our fellow developers at DICE, FIFA, and Capital Games, in addition to Easy-Anti-Cheat. While we’ve already rolled out several updates (and will be continually doing so for the foreseeable future), others will take time to fully implement. We can’t share details on what we’re doing so as to not give a head’s up to the cheat makers, but what we can say is that we’re attacking this from every angle: from improvements in detecting cheaters, to bolstering resources and tools, to improving processes and other sneaky things to combat sellers and cheaters.

McCoy further adds that Respawn is working to both improve cheat detection and prevent other activities like account selling and farming. Which suggests that the new reporting tool has sped up the process of banning accounts. Respawn reckons the number of matches affected by cheaters on PC has also been cut in half in the last month. The PC version of the game ha a more sophisticated reporting measures than consoles.

Though taking out all the cheaters can be near impossible, the situation certainly seems like it is improving over time.

What do you think of Respawn working to ban more cheaters in Apex Legends? Do you wish to add something that Respawn may have missed in the game? Post your comments below.
