Anthem Players Boycott Game Due To Broken Loot Drop System

Anthem free to play

Anthem is a looter shooter and Bioware has failed to perfect the looting part of the game. A recent bug allowed players to get superior loot but that bug has now been patched and the players are not happy with the current state of the loot system. Players are actually boycotting the Anthem now.

We have already talked about how Bioware marketed the game back at E3 2017 and how the marketing material is different from the actual game. The game crashes on PS4 and it has even bricked a few consoles. Players are frustrated and rallied in order to get answers from Bioware. They have paid money for a game and it is safe to say that the content roadmap is unacceptable and that the game does not seem to be finished.

It seems like the game was rushed and Bioware is figuring things out on the way. Head of live service Chad Robertson talked about the loot system and the following is what he had to say in this regard:

We appreciate all the feedback from the community on the game. We love the passion and share it. We’re not yet fully happy with the game’s loot behavior either. One of the downsides of moving so fast to improve is that we’re making changes to complex loot systems in several areas and it’s then harder to know how it’s performing.

All this should have been tested before the game was released. Bioware did have plenty of time to test player response in the closed and open betas of the game. Interestingly the game has been out for a while now and these issues are still there. Some of these issues are game breaking and if they are not fixed soon then the game is going to die.

Let us know what you think about the state of Anthem and what your experience has been like so far.
