Publisher Dotemu and developer Tribute Games have announced that MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is set to expand with its first major DLC: The Siege of Castle Doom. The Siege of Castle Doom is an upcoming expansion centered on Marvel’s iconic villain, Doctor Doom. The DLC will arrive on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S later this year.
The developers have provided the first look at the DLC through a teaser image, with more details expected ahead of its Fall 2026 release. The Siege of Castle Doom will introduce a new game mode alongside two additional playable characters, giving players new options in the tag-team beat ’em up.
Details surrounding the new mode and the two playable characters have not yet been revealed, leaving Doctor Doom’s role as the main confirmed element of the expansion. His appearance also marks a shift in focus away from the game’s current central conflict, which centers on the cosmic villain Annihilus and his assault on the galaxy.
In MARVEL Cosmic Invasion, Annihilus unleashes the Annihilation Wave in an attempt to threaten all life across the cosmos. Players can choose from a roster of 17 Marvel heroes, switching between pairs of characters during combat through the game’s Cosmic Swap system. The mechanic allows players to combine different heroes and their abilities while progressing through the campaign.
The base game draws heavily from classic Marvel comics and arcade-style beat ’em ups, with its roster spanning Earth-based and cosmic characters. Its story also brings several established villains into Annihilus’ campaign, including Thanos, M.O.D.O.K., and Taskmaster.
The Siege of Castle Doom continues Dotemu and Tribute Games’ focus on cooperative brawler gameplay following their work on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. The two studios are again combining a retro-inspired visual style with modern mechanics, this time using Marvel’s characters and comic-book history as the foundation.
The Siege of Castle Doom DLC is scheduled to launch in Fall 2026 across PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Pricing and a specific release date have not yet been announced. The base game MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is also available on all of the above-mentioned platforms.
