How to Unlock Hydroelectric Turbine in Subnautica 2

Subnautica 2 Hydroelectric Turbine

This Subnautica 2 guide details how you can unlock and use the Hydroelectric turbines to power your base. The Hydroelectric Turbine is one of the useful power sources you can unlock in Subnautica 2. This helps you keep your base running smoothly. Once installed correctly, it can provide steady energy using underwater currents.

Hydroelectric Turbine Guide – Subnautica 2

The first step is to find the two blueprint pieces so that you have the crafting recipe for the Hydrelectric Turbine.

Finding the First Blueprint Piece

To get the blueprint, start from your lifepod. Head north toward the Wu Wu Lianghai area. This is where you will find the blueprint fragments needed to unlock the Hydroelectric Turbine.

Finding the Second Blueprint Piece

After scanning the first fragment, turn toward the east and continue traveling in that direction. Move across the top of the nearby mountain area and then look downward once you pass over it. You will spot another underwater base near a water current. Close to this location is the second turbine fragment. Scan this one as well, and the Hydroelectric Turbine blueprint should now be fully unlocked.

Crafting the Turbine

Once both fragments are scanned, return to your base and open the crafting menu. To build the turbine, you will need Copper, Titanium, and Silver.

After gathering the materials, you can place the turbine. But it only works properly when built inside an active underwater current. So, find a suitable location. The turbine automatically turns in the same direction the water is flowing, which helps generate power continuously.

Using Power Transmitters

Building the turbine alone is not enough. You also need Power Transmitters to carry the generated energy back to your base.

Each transmitter requires Titanium and Copper to craft. After placing one, you will notice a visible connection line showing where the power is traveling. Continue placing additional transmitters while keeping the connection active until the line reaches your base.

Once connected correctly, the turbine will begin supplying energy to your system. You can check your base power levels to confirm everything is working properly. You can also see how much energy is being produced compared to how much your base is using.
