Crimson Desert Leaping Kuku Bird Mount Guide – How to Get

Crimson Desert Leaping Kuku Bird Mount Guide

This Crimson Desert Leaping Kuku Bird Mount Guide details how you can tame and get the Kuku Bird as a mount in the game. If you feel you need a mount to cover long distances and also want a little bit of fun, like gliding through the air. Then this mount is the one you should go for. The process is fairly simple, but you will need to do a couple of things before getting this as a mount.

Leaping Kuku Bird Mount Guide – Crimson Desert

Your first task is to collect the Kuku Bird Egg. To do this, head to the Steel Mountains located in the southern part of the map. The exact place you need to visit is the Bloodsteel Camp.

As you arrive at the camp, look for a tall tower with a glowing red arrow attached to it. This is the location of the hidden egg. Climb up to the tower and interact with the rotating wall mechanism using the resist action. After rotating the wall, a small hidden room will open up inside the tower.

Inside the room, you will find the Kuku Bird Egg waiting to be picked up. Be careful, though, because taking the egg counts as stealing. Once you grab it, avoid getting caught by nearby guards until the crime alert disappears. There is also a book inside the room if you want to take it as well, although that item also needs to be stolen.

After the theft warning clears, you can safely leave the camp and move on to the next step.

Taking the Egg to the Nest

With the egg in your bag, travel east from the camp toward a large tree in the distance. As you get closer, you will notice a nest icon appear on the minimap. This marks the exact spot where the egg needs to be hatched.

Open your inventory and move to the keepsake section where the egg is stored. Use the egg, so your character carries it by hand. Then aim carefully using the lantern control and place the egg into the middle of the nest.

If everything is done correctly, the egg will begin glowing. This confirms that the hatching process has started.

Hatching the Leaping Kuku Bird

Once the egg is inside the nest, all you need to do is wait nearby for a few minutes. Eventually, the egg will begin shaking and glowing much more brightly. Walk up to the egg when this happens and interact with it using the hatch option. After the short animation finishes, the Leaping Kuku Bird will officially become your mount.

The bird has a funny eggshell helmet by default, which gives it a pretty good appearance. You can ride it immediately after hatching it, and one of its best features is its ability to glide through the air. While it is not the fastest mount in the game, it can jump high and glide long distances, making it feel very different from standard mounts.

How to Get the Kuku Bird Saddle

If you do not like the eggshell helmet, you can purchase a proper saddle for the mount later on. The saddle can be found north of Hernand at a small town shop.

Location of the Saddlery

Travel to the location and speak to the merchant there. The Kuku Bird Saddle will be available for purchase, and equipping it replaces the eggshell helmet with a normal saddle design. It also gives the mount an additional 20 defense.
