Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival Dev Diary Focuses on Cenobites Ahead of PS5, Xbox, and PC Release

Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival Dev Diary

Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games have released a new dev diary for Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival, offering a closer look at how the game adapts the franchise’s iconic Cenobites for its upcoming survival horror release. The game is scheduled to launch later this year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

The new video centers on the Cenobites, the supernatural antagonists that have defined the Hellraiser series since the original film’s release in 1987. Narrated by Doug Bradley, best known for portraying Pinhead in the original films, the diary explores how characters such as Pinhead, Chatterer, Butterball, and the Female Cenobite are being translated into gameplay, environmental design, and the broader horror atmosphere of the title.

Rather than treating them as simple enemies, the developers say the game aims to explore the Cenobites as more complex figures within the Hellraiser mythos. Pinhead, in particular, is presented less as a straightforward villain and more as a calculating force tied to suffering, desire, and control, an approach that aligns closely with the original themes created by Clive Barker.

Hellraiser: Revival introduces a new original story within the franchise universe, built around a descent into the underworld to rescue a loved one from the Cenobites. Players will face cultists, supernatural enemies, and creatures tied to Hell’s armies while using both conventional weapons and the powers of the Genesis Configuration puzzle box, which serves as a central gameplay mechanic.

The game marks one of the first major attempts to bring Hellraiser into a full survival horror action format, expanding beyond previous adaptations and focusing more directly on the psychological horror and mythology of the series rather than simple monster encounters.
