PAX East 2026 just concluded on the weekend, and while it featured days filled with panels, video game demos, and new announcements, it also managed to break a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD. The upcoming asymmetrical stealth horror game Halloween, developed and published by IllFonic, co-published by Gun Interactive, in partnership with Compass International Pictures and Further Fron, was also taking part in PAX East 2026 with a special playable demo, which drew thousands of players from around the world, resulting in it breaking a record.
PAX East 2026 is the latest iteration of the video game convention by ReedPop and Penny Arcade, and it ran from March 25 to March 28, 2026. The event was filled with many industry titans and featured different panels, a hall full of video game demos, and much more. Spanning over four days, the event attracted over a hundred thousand fans from around the world who gathered to celebrate everything about video games. At the end of the event, the organizers also announced the dates for PAX East 2027.
Halloween Broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the Biggest Michael Myers Gathering at PAX East 2026
During PAX East 2026, the first-ever playable demo of Halloween was available, and for this particular demo, over 254 fans gathered in full costume, which resulted in them breaking a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD for the most Michael Myers representations at a single location. The show-exclusive demo gave players a chance to experience the intense 1v4 multiplayer experience set in the shadowy streets of Haddonfield Heights. Halloween is set in the same universe created by the master horror filmmaker John Carpenter, whose first iteration was released back in 1978.

The demo allowed players to either play as Michael Myers or as desperate civilians trying to escape him. Apart from the demo, Illfonic also hosted a panel that explored how developers and original creators collaborated to bring this iconic universe to a video game. The panel featured Ryan Freimann of Compass International Pictures, alongside IllFonic’s Jared Gerritzen and Jordan Mathewson, with legendary filmmaker John Carpenter joining virtually. The hosts offered players a rare insight into the creative process that went into the upcoming title’s development.
After the panel, Illfonic, Trancas International Films, and fans broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD title for ‘Largest gathering of people dressed as Michael Myers (Halloween franchise)’. Fans were gathered wearing the signature mask, blue jumpsuit, and a prop knife. Halloween is slated for a release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on September 8, 2028.
