Kingdom Rush Battles Announced by Ironhide Games as Franchise Goes PvP

Ironhide Game Studios has announced its brand-new game in the Kingdom Rush franchise: Kingdom Rush Battles, as it takes a new direction for the series. Kingdom Rush Battles is a multiplayer PvP title in which players will battle against rivals in strategic head-to-head PvP battles. This is the first time that the franchise is heading in the multiplayer direction. Their previous release, Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance, was also a single-player tower-defense experience, so this is completely new for the developers and the franchise.

While Kingdom Rush has remained primarily a solo, tower-defense experience, the studio did release a different game back in 2021. It was still a single-player title, but it changed the gameplay style for the first time in the franchise as well. It is a tactical turn-based grid RPG, but it was not well-received by fans upon its launch. Following its disappointing launch, Ironhide went back to doing what it does best and released Kingdom Rush 5: Alliance, another solid tower-defense game, which managed to nab some awards, such as the ChinaJoy’s Best Mobile Game 2024 award.

With Kingdom Rush Battles, the developer is once again changing the pace of the series by adding multiplayer and removing single-player gameplay elements. As of now, not a lot of details are known about the new title apart from the fact that it is a PvP experience. It will also feature building and upgrading towers where you will deploy heroes and use spells in real-time matches, but we have yet to see how this plays out.
