AMD Radeon RX 6500 Series Details Leaked Online, Will Target Nvidia RTX 3060 at 1080p

Specifications of AMD’s next graphic card, the AMD Radeon RX 6500 have been leaked out online. The graphics card will be utilizing the RDNA 2 architecture based Navi 23 GPU and its details have been leaked by the well-known leaker, KittyYYuko on Twitter.

According to the leaked information, the next graphics card in the Radeon RX 6000 series will be based on the Navi 23 GPU. It will be the third chip within the Navi 2X family and is the smallest of the bunch with a die size reported at around 236mm2. It is expected that it will be the RX 6500 series graphics cards that will be based on this GPU.

Radeon RX 6500 will replace the Radeon RX 5500 series which were based on the Navi 14 GPU. According to information last year, Navi 23 GPU is also internally referred to as ‘Dimgray Cavefish’ which is a codename for it. The Navi 23 GPU’s die size has increased around 50% compared to the Navi 14 GPU. Navi 14 measured at 158mm2 while Navi 23 measures 236mm2.

Coming to the specifications, the Radeon RX 6500 will feature 32 compute units, which translates to 2048 stream processors. There are also 32 raytracing units inside the GPU package. The GPU will have 64 MB of Infinity Cache which will help it boost up its bandwidth.

As far as memory is concerned, the AMD RX 6500 will feature 8 GB of GDDR6 memory which will be operating across a 128-bit bus. That translates to speeds of up to 16 Gbps. and total bandwidth to 256 GB/s.

The AMD Radeon RX 6500 series will be positioned as a premium 1080p gaming solution, offering faster performance than the RTX 3060. The pricing is suggested around 2499 CNY which ends up around $350 US. We will have to wait and see what AMD is planning with this card and how it will compete with other cards at this price point.
