ININ Games has announced that is releasing the retro shooting classic Turrican Flashback on January 29, 2021, on Nintendo Switch and PS4. Turrican Flashback is a collection of four Turrican titles and will release in both physical boxed as well as digitally across both platforms. The game was originally released on the classic home computer system, The Commodore Amiga but now the franchise is coming back to life on Nintendo Switch and PS4.
With its initial release, the franchise also saw its releases on Super Nintendo and Mega Drive. The franchise was developed by legends in the video game industry however it has now been remastered by lifelong fans. The franchise’s long-awaited return to modern consoles includes the original Turrican 1 & 2 along with Super Turrican and Mega Turrican combined in a single collection called Turrican Flashback. The remastered version of these classic brings brand-new elements to the classic game formula and offer both old and new fans something unique to look forward to. The remasters have been played and tested by lifelong Turrican fans across Europe. These include new control schemes for making the titles more accessible to modern players. Each button and command now responds pretty well and allows players to land precision shots and jumps than ever before.
A new ‘Rewind’ feature is also in place which will allow players to rewind their failures in order to retry their failures quickly without the need of restarting the game making it more accessible and providing players an optional easy challenge. The game also features state saving so even if you switch to another game or want to come back later, you can resume right from the location where you saved it at.
If you want a truly retro experience, the game features different CRT shaders that will transform the game to look just like you are playing it on an old CRT monitor. If you prefer a more modern visual mode, you can play in the default mode which offers a new dynamic pixel-perfect display that minimizes the on-screen icons and focuses entirely on the gorgeous in-game graphics.
It also brings Chris Huelsbeck’s legendary score back to life. The entire score is in full display and has been painstakingly programmed in all games to ensure the highest quality playback of the original game audio across the various sound chips Mr. Huelsbeck perfected for the original franchise.
