EA has announced that NFS Heat is getting cross-play in the latest update and this will also be the final update of the game. Apart from this, EA has also announced that Criterion Games is now working on the next Need for Speed game which will arrive sometime in 2021. This is really big news for the fans of the franchise because Need for Speed Heat is the first game in the franchise to receive cross-play. The update is due to arrive tomorrow and it will allow players on PS4, Xbox One, and PC to play with each other.
Need for Speed Heat is also the first EA game to allow cross-play between all three major platforms. After the new update has been applied to your game, no matter where you play, you will be able to play with your friends whether they are playing on PS4, Xbox One, or PC (Steam or Origin). All platforms will be able to cause mayhem in Palm City together and I am sure that fans are going to love this brand new feature arriving in the latest update. I, myself, will be able to finally play with my friends because I play on Xbox One while my friends prefer PS4.
Apart from the cross-play, General Manager of Criterion Games, Matt Webster has also announced that Criterion Games will now focus completely on the development of the next Need for Speed game which is slated to arrive sometime in 2021. For the next title, the developer is listening to all the fan-feedback and their goal is to release the most expressive, most socially connected, action-packed game the franchise has ever seen.
This certainly gets me excited because, after a number of disappointing titles in the franchise, NFS Heat was a good title that I actually enjoyed playing. Now I will enjoy it even more since I will be able to play the game with my friends as well. The cross-play update will arrive tomorrow with some added fixes and improvements as well.
