Merge Games has announced that their exploration puzzle game Spirit of the North is set to launch this spring for the PC and Nintendo Switch. The game is a single-player third-person adventure game that according to the developers is inspired by the mysterious and breath-taking landscapes of Iceland.
You play the game as an ordinary red fox, whose story becomes entwined with the guardian of the Northern Lights, a female spirit fox. You will find out more about this spiritual companion of yours as you traverse over the mountains and under the red-stained skies. Your adventure will take you to glaciers and mountainsides as you follow a foreboding scarlet trail that paints the sky.
The game will put you through various puzzles that you have to solve and to find out about the lost ancient civilization. Your new companion that aides you in this adventure will shed light on the runs of the past and help you overcome obstacles.
Here are some of the key features of the game:
- Make your way across stunning landscapes, on an emotionally stirring journey.
- Solve environmental puzzles to change the world around you, using ancient powers bestowed upon you by the guardian of the Northern Lights.
- Follow the mysterious Spirit Fox across a land left in ruin as you discover more about a lost civilization.
- Moving orchestral soundtrack featuring 14 original compositions.
There is no confirmation of the release date of the game, other than it is set to arrive this Spring. The game will be available on both the PC and Nintendo Switch, while a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release is yet to be announced, or if the game will ever be ported on the said consoles.
