Blacklight: Retribution PC Game Servers Shutting Down Next Month

Blacklight: Retribution

Hardsuit Labs has announced that Blacklight: Retribution PC servers are being shut down next month for good. The official statement announced the date to be set at 11 March, 2019.  The developer says to be working on more interesting projects for the future.

The company revealed to be focused on more projects that require full focus of the development teams and leadership. As a reason, the PC servers of the game are being shut down, while the PlayStation 4 version will continue to operate. Which is because there are not any dedicated servers for the console version.

All good things must come to an end, and so it is with Blacklight: Retribution.

Thank you for so much for your loyal support, and love over the years. From the initial PC Closed Beta in November 2011 to today, it has been a great 7+ years. The joy that we got out of Blacklight: Retribution is a testament to you the fans; your loyalty, dedication, support, and ultimate willingness to try our fun, quirky FPS.

Why is this happening? The reality is Hardsuit Labs has been engaged for some time now in some very interesting projects that require the full focus of the development teams and leadership. The studio capacity and resources are and have been entirely engaged with these projects and will be for the foreseeable future.

The game was initially released by a developer called Zombie Studios, and was available through Steam. It followed up with a launch for the PlayStation 4 in 2013, after the success of the PC version. The game was met with a lot of positive reception for its fast paced matchmaking and combat. It’s features such as different online modes like deathmatch, capture the flags set the tone for the game.

Hardsuit Labs then took over with the development of the game a few years after the initial release. With the announcement of the servers going offline, the company also added that the support for the game is also permanently going to end.

The support means that there will no longer be any official updating, patching, or doing technical support for the game. Account migration has also officially shut down as a result.

Starting today, all items in the PC store will be made free, and we hope that you continue to enjoy the game and items up until the PC servers are shut down on March 11th, 2019. The PS4 version of Blacklight Retribution will continue to operate as-is since there are no game servers being hosted for it.

Though this may be sad news for some PC players who are fans of this game, Harduit Labs has announced that all the items in the PC store will be made free, or order to let the fans enjoy the last month with everything.
